ESPN analyst and on-air personality Robert Griffin III has been nominated for a Sports Emmy Award in the outstanding personality/emerging on-air talent category.
The 44th Annual Sports Emmy Awards will take place live and in-person at the Lincoln Center’s Frederick P. Rose Hall on Monday, May 22, 2023.
The award has four additional nominees, including three other ESPN personalities JJ Redick, Eli Manning, and Andraya Carter, as well as Fox on-air personality Greg Olsen.
In August of 2021, Griffin signed a multi-year contract with ESPN as an analyst for both ESPN College Football and NFL Live.
Prior to working for ESPN, Robert Griffin III won the Heisman Trophy Award in 2011 and also won the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year in 2012.
In the 2012 NFL Draft Griffin was selected second overall to the Washington football franchise. He went on to play in the NFL from 2012 through 2020 for Washington, Cleveland, and Baltimore.
Griffin went to Twitter to thank his fans and ESPN for the nomination saying, “HOLY GUACAMOLE! This Emmy Nomination wouldn’t be possible without all of you and all the amazing people at ESPN. Thank you all for making this TV journey so enjoyable.”
It is the first Sports Emmy Awards nomination for Robert Griffin III.
